Struga
Struga (native: Струга) is a town situated in the south-western region of the Republic of Macedonia. Located on the shores of Lake Ohrid, the city is laced with bridges, dotted with delightful architecture, and linked by lanes.
The Black Drin river starts at the lake and divides the city.
According to the last National census from 2002, Struga municipality has 63.376 inhabitants (36.029 Albanians, 20.336 Macedonians, 3.628 Turks).
Struga is also a place of important cultural significance in the Republic of Macedonia, as it is the birthplace of the poets Konstantin and Dimitar Miladinov. The main event of the cultural life in Struga is the world's largest poetry gathering, Struga Poetry Evenings, whose laureates have included several Nobel Prize for Literature winners.
